MISSION STATEMENT
The Foundation for Mythological Studies (FMS) was created in 1997 with the purpose of educating and enriching communities, both local and global. FMS seeks to widen perspectives by cultivating intellectual ideas and exploring the depth of human experience. Our emphasis is upon developing tolerance and appreciation for cultural and ethnic diversity, promoting the ethical treatment of our fellow beings, and deepening our connection to the natural world. We seek a better understanding of who we are as a species and how we may live on this planet in a conscious, sustainable manner.
Our primary objectives are to mine the sciences and humanities, particularly Mythological Studies, Depth and Archetypal Psychology, Ecopsychology and other related disciplines in order to broaden interest in cultural mythologies and demonstrate their timeless relevance, develop a pedagogical approach to understanding nature and human nature, and create educational tools and events that address the need for understanding our human and ecological interdependence.
